Meat consumption leads to Cancer
International Agency for Research on Cancer (a unit of World Health Organization) in its press release announced that consuming more meat leads to increased risk to Cancer. The same was published in The Lancet Oncology journal. Here are the highlights:
- IARC considered 800 studies investigating associations for more than a dozen types of cancers for over 20 years
- Processed meat is carcinogenic to humans and sufficient evidence was established for the colorectal cancer and meat consumption
- 50g of daily meat consumption leads to 18% increase in cancer risk
- Governments should assess risk for the best possible dietary recommendations
